After having zero foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) cases at the end of 2022, yesterday [Sat 4 Mar 2023], cases of FMD in Cirebon Regency are now reappearing.
Data from the Cirebon Regency (Distan) Agriculture Department as of [27 Feb 2023], out of a total of 1885 ruminants, 26 died, 186 were forcibly slaughtered, 1,632 recovered and 41 are still sick.
Cirebon Distan District Secretary Dr. Encus Suswaningsih said FMD cases as of early 2023 were spread across 80 villages in 32 sub-districts.
According to Encus, FMD cases reappeared in Cirebon Regency as supplies of ruminants arrived from outside Cirebon Regency before the Islamic holidays. "In preparation for the qurbani festival, entrepreneurs have even started buying them now," Encus Suswaningsih said on [Sun 25 Mar 2023].
So far, Encus said, there are still 41 ruminants affected by FMD. They are spread across 9 villages in a number of sub-districts.

Indonesia's Ministry of Agriculture operates a website dedicated to the continuing FMD epizootic. The website presents (daily) updates on the course of the disease (number and locations of currently active cases, total confirmed cases, recovered, deaths, slaughtered) and of the vaccination performance. Currently, only one province, East Java, is coloured red, meaning that the number of subdistricts with active FMD cases exceeds 50% of the total number of subdistricts in the province.
The website presents the following totals accumulated FMD data since the start of the event in April 2022, updated 6 Mar 2023: 605 264 cases, of which 566 539 recovered, 14 335 sanitary slaughtered, 11 362 died, 13 208 "not yet healed", 11 994 282 doses vaccine applied. All data are presented per Province, Regency/City, Subdistrict, and village, as well as per animal species (dairy cattle, beef cattle, water buffaloe, sheep, goats, pigs).
